Chambers of Commerce, the circus will perform seven shows beginning Friday through Sunday in a big top set up at Avenue I and 20th Street West.

Aerialist Sandra Giavedoni performs with her husband, Luis Fernandez. This is the Argentinian's second year with the show and her third year in America, and she has found both to be interesting experiences.

``The most enjoyable is that we travel a lot and meet different people and different cultures,'' Giavedoni said. Her husband was born into the circus, but Giavedoni didn't join the circus until she married him 18 years ago. The couple have an 11-year-old daughter.

Her grandfather has a circus in Mexico, and 12 of her family members travel with Circus Chimera.

``My father teaches how to do trapeze and all that kind of act in the show,'' said Chimal, who came to the United States in 1990 and has been with Circus Chimera five years.

Her sister Monica does triple somersaults to a high chair, brother Alex juggles, and two other brothers, Donald and Roberto, ride motorcycles inside the Globe of Death.

Her relatives have gotten hurt several times. ``But that's what we want to do,'' Chimal said.

The circus travels throughout the United States, including Hawaii and Canada, performing two shows every day and three on Saturdays. They travel from February through December, practicing two hours each day. But Chimal says she doesn't tire of the work and hasn't found any interests outside of the circus.

Julio Rosales and his brother Jorge are fourth-generation circus performers. The duo performs the Wheel of Death, on which they juggle and jump rope jump rope

``The circus is my life, my job, so I enjoy it,'' said Rosales, 32, whose wife also performs with him.

His 10-year-old son has caught the circus bug and is practicing walking on the low wire while Rosales' 2-year-old daughter just enjoys watching her parents perform.

Ticket prices are $12, $14 and $16 for adults, and children under 10 are $6. Free children's tickets were distributed through the local school districts.

Performances are 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Friday; 1:20, 4:30, and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; and 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. Sunday. To order tickets call (800) ONE-RING or the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce at (661) 948-4518.
