SILVERSTONE would consider staging a race for rebel Grand Prix teams if loses its place on next year's Formula One calendar.

But BRDC chairman Robert Brooks said the circuit's first loyalty was to F1.

He was speaking as teams reached deadline day today in their showdown with FIA president Max Mosley still threatening to form their own championship.

"We're part of Formula One, have been since 1950 when we staged the first world championship Grand Prix, have a very strong and good relationship with Formula One and would like to carry on with them," said Brooks.

"But ultimately we're a business and are expected to behave like a business. If we're in a situation where we have no Grand Prix next year we would have to consider it."

F1 ringmaster Bernie Ecclestone announced the event would move to Donington in 2010 but work on the circuit is behind schedule.
