CINAR and Shanghai Animation Film Studio Team Up to Produce a new Preschool Series, SIMON IN THE LAND OF CHALK DRAWINGS.

CINAR Corporation and Shanghai Animation Film Studio (SAFS), China's oldest and most respected animation studio, are pleased to announce that they are joining forces to co-produce SIMON IN THE LAND OF CHALK DRAWINGS (TM), a new 13 half-hour animated series for pre-schoolers.

The series is based on the books written and illustrated by Ed McLachlan, one of Britain's most beloved cartoonists and illustrators. Production will run through to May 2002 and the series will begin airing on TeleTOON in Canada in the fall of 2002.

SIMON IN THE LAND OF CHALK DRAWINGS follows the adventures of a six-year-old boy with a vivid imagination and a particularly exciting talent: everything he draws comes to life! Simon simply climbs a ladder, and jumps over the fence into the Land of Chalk Drawings - a colourful world of his own creation. In this world, the sun and moon may argue over equal time or a tornado may be transformed into a harmless kite. Whatever the adventure, it's Simon and his magic chalk to the rescue!
