CIMA LABS' DuraSolv Fast-Dissolve Oral Drug Delivery System Awarded Second U.S. Patent.

. (Nasdaq NMS See NetWare Management System. :CIMA) today announced the issuance of a patent (No. 6,221,392) from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its DuraSolv(TM) oral drug delivery system. Patent protection will extend through 2018.

The new patent, which covers a hard tablet that dissolves rapidly, is wider in scope than the initial DuraSolv patent. By eliminating the requirement for a particular tablet hardness, the new patent allows for a less restrictive manufacturing process for DuraSolv-based pharmaceuticals.

DuraSolv is a complementary technology to the Company's OraSolv(R) oral drug delivery system, which combines taste-masked active drug ingredients with a fast dissolving, low effervescence ef·fer·vesce
