CIGNA HealthCare Opens New England Regional Operating Center.


CONCORD, N.H.--(BW HealthWire)--Sept. 12, 1997--

Healthsource New Hampshire, the state's largest health maintenance organization, announced today that its parent company, CIGNA CIGNA CG (Connecticut General Life Insurance Company) INA (Insurance Company of North America)  HealthCare, has selected New Hampshire as the site for its New England New England, name applied to the region comprising six states of the NE United States—Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The region is thought to have been so named by Capt.  Regional Operating Center.

There will also be a virtual site in Freeport, Maine. Expected to be fully operational by Dec. 1, the initial phase of hiring for the new operating center will be in excess of 60 new positions in New Hampshire and Maine.

Among the functions that will be expanded within and added to the current operating center are the claims processing, member services, enrollment and finance operations from the Healthsource plans in New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 and Indiana.

"This Regional Operating Center will give us a national presence within the CIGNA family of companies and the opportunity for job creation and job advancement both here in New Hampshire and in Maine," stated Donna K. Lencki, senior vice president for CIGNA HealthCare and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Healthsource, which merged with Bloomfield, Conn.-based CIGNA HealthCare in June, is taking these steps to gain greater efficiencies by eliminating duplication within the company. The merger is expected to save the combined company $100 million.

Healthsource New Hampshire is a subsidiary of Hooksett, N.H.-based Healthsource Inc. which merged with CIGNA HealthCare on June 28, 1997.
