CIENA to Provide Optical Solutions in the Global Crossing Network.

LINTHICUM, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 20, 2000

CIENA Corporation Ciena Corporation NASDAQ: CIEN develops and markets communications network platforms and software, and offers professional services. The Company's broadband access, data and optical networking platforms, software tools, and global network services support worldwide telecom  (Nasdaq: CIEN CIEN Ciena Corporation (stock symbol) ) today announced that it will supply intelligent optical transport solutions for the Global Crossing (Nasdaq: GBLX GBLX Global Crossing Ltd. (stock symbol) ) network.

Under an existing contract with Racal Telecom, which was acquired by Global Crossing in November, the carrier has purchased CIENA MultiWave Sentry(TM) systems for the expansion of its UK network to support regional and international Global Crossing customer traffic.
