CIENA(R) Corporation (NASDAQ:CIEN) today announced a significant presence at SUPERCOMM 2004 that highlights the company's strategic evolution to a leading provider of intelligent service creation and delivery solutions for service provider, cable operator and enterprise customers. Expanding from its leadership position in optical networking, CIENA has developed a comprehensive product line that now addresses the key areas of network and service growth for its customers, including storage and data networking, wavelength services and broadband access.

At the show, CIENA's booth will showcase new technologies through live demos of its expanded product portfolio. CIENA also will demonstrate leadership in multiple industry standards bodies and working group demos, will offer a full schedule of CIENA University educational seminars, and intends to announce new and enhanced products that illustrate the company's broad support for data services from Core to Door(TM). SUPERCOMM 2004, the world's largest annual exhibition and conference for communication service providers and private network managers, will be held June 20-24 at McCormick Place in Chicago. At SUPERCOMM, CIENA will showcase the service-enabling capabilities of its entire product line and intends to introduce new and enhanced products. These announcements will span the company's solutions portfolio and support the new data service requirements of enterprise, cable operator and service provider customers across their core, metro, edge and access networks with specific emphasis on three key areas:

-- Converged Network Services - end-to-end automation and

cost-effective delivery of IP, Ethernet, Private Line, and

wavelength services over a converged, multiservice network

supporting MPLS, next-generation SONET/SDH and agile optical

technology.

-- Enterprise Services - high-value managed corporate data

services and bundled service packages - including Frame Relay,

-- Residential Triple Play - helping carriers to increase revenue

per customer and reduce churn by offering high-speed data,

voice and video services - including Voice over IP and Video

on Demand - over fiber, copper or coax.
