The term OSS most frequently describes "network systems" dealing with the telecom network itself, supporting processes such  (OSSs).

Completion of this process helps enable the ONLINE products to operate seamlessly with service providers that have deployed these Telcordia OSSs, such as the U.S.-based incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs). In addition, the ONLINE(TM) 2500, an optical edge access solution, has completed integration with the Telcordia TIRKS(R) OSS Oss (ôs), city (1994 pop. 62,141), North Brabant prov., S Netherlands; chartered 1399. It is a significant industrial center. Manufactures include meat products, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, electrical equipment, and metalware. , the first phase of the OSMINE process.

The completion of the Telcordia(TM) OSMINE Services process, will help enable carriers to integrate CIENA's industry-leading optical networking solutions into their existing networks and operations environments to rapidly meet the growing demand for metropolitan services, including new services, such as Gigabit Ethernet, storage applications and wavelength services.

"The Telcordia OSMINE Services process is a rigorous, thorough testing, for companies attracting major carriers," said Dennis Tinley, vice president, Customer Solutions, Telcordia Technologies, Inc. "This will enable CIENA to further establish its ONLINE 7000, 9000 and 11000 products with potential customers."

"The completion of OSMINE satisfies our customers' expectations for full interoperability with the Telcordia OSSs including flowthrough provisioning for all services and network topologies our ONLINE products enable," said Rusty Cumpston, senior vice president, metro products for CIENA.
