CIDC holds summer workshops.The Coney Island Coney Island (kō`nē), beach resort, amusement center, and neighborhood of S Brooklyn borough of New York City, SE N.Y., on the Atlantic Ocean. Development Corporation recently announced the Job Readiness Workshops, a series of specialized spe·cial·ize v. spe·cial·ized, spe·cial·iz·ing, spe·cial·iz·es v.intr. 1. To pursue a special activity, occupation, or field of study. 2. workshops to prepare Coney Island residents for the community's first large-scale Career Opportunities Fair to be held on August 1, 2008. The workshops are being held between June 13 and July 17 in Coney Island. Each workshop will focus on a specific topic. Registration is required for job-seekers and employers. Non-Traditional Employment for Women: Wednesday, June 18. Attendees will be introduced to N.E.W., a free training program that prepares women for careers in the construction, transportation and utility industries. Job Search Techniques: Thursday, June 26. Attendees will learn how to search for a job on the internet and to create networking connections. Interview Skills and Dress for Success: Tuesday, July 8. Attendees will learn techniques and strategies to succeed during interviews, including how to dress for success and how to navigate (1) "Surfing the Web." To move from page to page on the Web. (2) To move through the menu structure in a software application. the interview process. How to get a Civil Service Job: Thursday, July 17. Attendees will to meet with specialists on hand to discuss employment opportunities with City and State government agencies, and civil service exams Civic service exams were implemented in various countries as a way to achieve an effective, rational public administration on a merit system. The most ancient example of such exams were in Imperial China. . The culmination of these workshops will be the Coney Island Career Opportunities Fair to be held on Friday, August 1.
