CIC Licenses Pen Enabling Solution to Intermec for Use On the Norand Pen Key 6642.

(Nasdaq:CICI) Communication Intelligence Corporation ("CIC"), the leading supplier of natural input and electronic signature solutions, today announced that it has licensed PenX(TM) 1.77 to Intermec Technologies Corp., a UNOVA Inc. (NYSE:UNA) company. Intermec will bundle PenX on a lightweight tablet style mobile computer called the Norand Pen Key 6642. CIC's Pen Extensions (PenX) provide a powerful 32-bit operating system extension for Windows 95, 98, and NT for pen devices enabling inking, ink capturing and handwriting recognition.

CIC's PenX is currently the only shipping product to provide 32-bit pen extensions for Windows NT 4.0. Other existing licensees of this product include several of the larger vertical market pen computer manufacturers such as Fujitsu Personal Systems Inc, Mitsubishi, and Walkabout.

PenX is an extension to Win32 operating systems that provides a common application program interface (API) for pen computing, including support for input device drivers and handwriting recognition engines. To compliment this low-level interface, PenX also includes the 32bit version of CIC's award winning Handwriter(R) Recognition System and new ActiveX edit controls needed for creating pen aware applications with Visual Basic and C++.
