CIC'S WordComplete Licensed by Ericsson to Simplify Text Entry for Users of New Smartphones.

Communication Intelligence Corporation (Nasdaq:CICI) ("CIC") today announced that Ericsson Mobile Communications AB (Nasdaq:ERICY) has added WordComplete(TM) to the mix of CIC software solutions that Ericsson will include on its new 1/4 VGA "Quartz" platform which was introduced at CeBIT.

This is an addition to the existing license that was signed last year for Jot(R), QuickNotes(TM) and Sign-On(TM). Different combinations of these solutions will be bundled on Ericsson's platforms.

Jan Ahrenbring, vice president of marketing and communication at Ericsson Mobile Communications commented, "The solution mix from CIC will be key to both the usability and security of these smartphone devices and will differentiate Ericsson's offerings in the market. The first of these phones which run on the Symbian platform, the Ericsson R380, is expected to be available on the European market in volume by this summer. This new smartphone will ship with a larger screen and a pen or "stylus," enabling personal information management (PIM) functionality to be integrated with voice and data. The combination of these functions will extend the traditional capability of the phone to enable users to do email and web browsing in addition to using the device as an electronic organizer. Bank of America Equity Research estimates that worldwide smartphone shipments will be approximately 60 million units next year, growing to 150 million units by 2002.

WordComplete is a dictionary based text entry utility that will help Ericsson users shorten text entry time whether they are running CIC's Jot(R) handwriting recognition system or using an on-screen keyboard. Once the user enters a few letters, a pop-up list of word choices will appear. The user just taps on the word they want and it is automatically entered. The version of WordComplete being provided to Ericsson will support English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
