CIBER Wins e.Business Contracts With Two Pennsylvania Agencies.

CIBER, Inc. (NYSE:CBR), a leading orchestrator of e.Business acceleration for the Internet-based economy, was awarded two contracts, totaling $3.3 million, from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Revenue and Department of Insurance. These contracts will enhance each agency's customer service efforts.

Under the agreements, CIBER will develop a new electronic data capture and imaging solution for the Department of Revenue. CIBER also will design and install a client-server application for the Department of Insurance to determine eligibility in support of the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

The Department of Revenue currently uses several data capture systems to process tax-related documents and associated payments or refunds for Pennsylvania business and personal income taxpayers. CIBER will design a system to capture data from certain tax forms using "key from image" technology, which scans documents and conducts follow-on work using electronically routed images. This new system will be integrated into the Department's current system architecture. The new solutions address systems integration needs by establishing a strategic enterprise architecture that assures interoperability between current and future components.

"CIBER was selected over several other major information solutions vendors because this approach will allow the Department to expand e-commerce activities across its operations as new technological innovations occur," said Phillip Gring, Manager of Business Development at CIBER's Custom Solutions Group office in Harrisburg. The Department of Revenue is seeking new ways to utilize the Internet to enhance its customer-service initiatives. CIBER recently developed an Internet-based application for certain businesses to register to do business in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Gring said.

The Department of Insurance's new three-tier application, based on PowerBuilder 7.0, Sybase, and PaperFree middleware to process transactions, will facilitate data exchange and access to the system by the Insurance Department, the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare and health-care contractors via the public Internet. The system is being designed so that contract providers of health care services can use a standard Web browser and the Internet to enter data about the program's clients into the system, without installing customized software or configuration at the contractor site, Gring said.
