CIBER Cellular Inter-Carrier Billing Exchange Record , Inc. announced today it has been awarded a multi-million dollar application development contract by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA USDA,
n.pr See United States Department of Agriculture. ) Farm Service Agency (FSA). CIBER will Web-enable the FSA's Farm Loan Program Information and Delivery System (FLPIDS), the system responsible for managing and distributing loans to farmers and ranchers. The FLPIDS project will involve centralizing loan making and loan servicing functionality, which will reduce support costs and improve FSA's ability to serve the public.
Established in 1994, the FSA's mission is to stabilize farm income, help farmers conserve land and water resources, provide credit to new or disadvantaged farmers and ranchers, and help farm operations recover from the effects of disaster. In support of that mission, the FSA offers direct and guaranteed loan programs to help farmers who are temporarily unable to obtain commercial credit, approves all loan guarantees and monitors and provides oversight of lenders' activities.
The reengineered FLPIDS will support the full range of direct loan program activities and improve the availability, accuracy, and timeliness of management information, as well as provide USDA service offices with improved capabilities to maintain and manage their loan portfolios. The system will also ensure a consistent supply of accurate and timely information required by Congress, the Office of Management and Budget The Office of Management and Budget (OMB), formerly the Bureau of the Budget, is an agency of the federal government that evaluates, formulates, and coordinates management procedures and program objectives within and among departments and agencies of the Executive Branch. and other Federal organizations.
"It is always rewarding to win new application development contracts, such as the FLPIDS project for USDA, based on strong past performance with clients," said Wally Birdseye, President of CIBER's Federal Government Practice. "We view the FLPIDS project as another opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to delivering dependable, high quality services and we look forward to a long relationship with the USDA."
