CI Wave to Deploy 3.5 GHz Broadband Fixed Wireless Data System in China.

Business and Technology Editors

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 8, 2001

CI Wave Inc., today announced that it has entered into a strategic relationship with Taiji Computer Company Limited of Beijing, China, whereby the two companies will work together to deploy a commercial 3.5 GHz broadband fixed wireless network in major cities throughout China.

The rollout will begin in Beijing and will quickly expand to additional cities, pursuant to a nationwide 3.5 GHz frequency spectrum license granted to Taiji by the relevant Central Government approval authorities in Beijing.

"We are very happy to have been exclusively selected by Taiji for this very exciting and important commercial rollout of broadband fixed wireless technology," said Douglas Carey, chief executive officer of CI Wave. "The entire Taiji team has demonstrated tremendous technological vision and wisdom, and the timing of this rollout is perfect. This technology has been deployed in many countries, and has been perfected so that it can provide the reliability and capacity that China expects and deserves from an advanced telecommunications network A telecommunications network is a of telecommunications links and nodes arranged so that messages may be passed from one part of the network to another over multiple links and through various nodes. ."

Using high-capacity base stations located in several locations throughout each city, this network will deliver high-speed data services to buildings throughout the city, while bypassing the existing copper `last mile' network, solving the long-standing `bottleneck' problem in the communications industry communications industry, broadly defined, the business of conveying information. Although communication by means of symbols and gestures dates to the beginning of human history, the term generally refers to mass communications. . Taiji selected CI Wave because its management conceived "spectral spectral /spec·tral/ (spek´tral) pertaining to a spectrum; performed by means of a spectrum.

In addition, CI Wave management has deployed similar systems in over 10 countries, but is now focused solely on China.

During the first phase of the deployment in each city, Taiji and CI Wave plan to use two 30 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  blocks, totaling 60 MHz. This spectrum, in combination with CI Wave's technology, will provide more than 1 Gigabit of capacity in concentrated areas within each city. The total size of the 3.5 GHz band is 200 MHz.
