A WOMAN is suffering in silence - after trying to help her injured husband.

Yvonne Wilson did a 10,000-foot parachute jump to raise money for the charity that has helped her husband Stephen, victim of a vicious assault.

But the jump at Brigg in Lincolnshire left her with a perforated eardrum and the loss of hearing in her right ear!

But she did manage to raise more than pounds 500 for the charity Headway.

Mrs Wilson, 36, of Yew Green Avenue, Lockwood, cares for her husband who was forced to give up work after the attack.

 Mr Wilson, 54, was left with a serious brain injury after he was attacked by a woman reveller outside a Leeds nightclub 18 months ago.

He collapsed and hit his head outside the club, leaving him unable to speak, read or write. * DEVOTED: Yvonne Wilson. His injuries He had to give up his driver's licence because he could no longer control a car.

She said: "I did the tandem skydive at Brigg to help raise money for Headway, because they had done so much for me and for Stephen.

"The jump was great and I loved it all, and I landed in one piece or so I thought.

"I felt and heard a loud pop in my ear on the way down. I thought it was earwax earwax /ear·wax/ (er´waks) cerumen.

"It was very painful and I ended up going to the doctor and he told me I had perforated my right eardrum ear·drum

"Stephen and I now make the perfect pair: he has sensitive hearing and I can hear nothing at all on one side.

A friend of the woman slapped Mr Wilson in the face before taking off a shoe and smacking him in the head.

"It's like I have a permanent hangover now," he said. He is unable to write but has regained the power of speech and can read again. And he is slowly rebuilding his life with the help of Huddersfield brain injuries support group Headway.
