CHURCHES TO CELEBRATE KING'S BIRTHDAY.

This will be the second year that the two congregations will meet. Last year the South Central church came to the Valley to observe the day.

``We need to understand people from all walks of life, and when you live in North Hollywood, you can go your whole life and not interact with different people,'' said the Rev. Dan Clark of First Presbyterian.

``It's a good thing for churches to get together and worship,'' Clark said. ``It's the world's secret peace weapon.''

The Rev. Fisher J. Robinson, vicar of African-American Ministries, Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, said the purpose is to make real the dream that the late civil rights leader enunciated in the 1960s.

``Mr. King's legacy is still with us. What we are called to do is continue that dream,'' Robinson said. ``There are 143 different ethnic groups in our community, and there is something good in each and every culture, and this is an opportunity to bring us all together.''

 Interfaith Council invites the public to gather at St. John Eudes Catholic Church, 9901 Mason Ave., Chatsworth, at 7 p.m. on Monday for the ninth annual Valley celebration service to honor King.

Also under the theme ``Make Real the Dream,'' the council will be joined by religious and community leaders of all faiths for readings and reflections on King followed by a reception.
