CHURCH SHARES BOUNTY WITH NEEDY.

Nearly a ton of food was delivered along with $2,730 Monday to the Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  Food Pantry, thanks to a weekend fund-raiser by Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

``We can always use the food, and the fact that they also give money is great because our operating costs operating costs nplgastos mpl operacionales  are so high,'' the pantry director, Linda Spring, said.

She said needy families will be able to get some treats, such as stuffing mix, nuts and cake mixes, along with regular groceries.

``The people who visit the pantry this time of year are always so grateful for the extra items we can include because it allows them to have a special holiday, like everyone else,'' Spring said.

The Bethlehem Lutheran pastor, the Rev. Martin Brauer, said 6,677 people visited the pageant pageant, modern dramatic spectacle or procession celebrating a special occasion or an event in the history of a locality. In medieval times the word pageant had meant the wagon or the movable stage on which one scene of a mystery or miracle play was performed.  this year, and almost all gave something for the pantry.  church has collected 12,785 pounds of food and more than $8,230 for the pantry.

Spring said contributions are especially welcome during the holidays but are needed the rest of the year, too. Anyone interested in contributing can contact her at (661) 255-9078 or drop off donations at the pantry, 24133 Railroad Ave., Newhall.
