CHURCH FETE TO FEATURE FOOD, FUN; THREE-DAY CARNIVAL TO START TODAY IN SIMI.Byline: Angela Randazzo Daily News Staff Writer Always a popular community event, the St. Rose of Lima Saint Rose of Lima, (20 April, 1586 - 24 August, 1617), the first Catholic saint of the Americas, was born in Lima, Peru. Parish Carnival also has been affordable fun for the family. To keep it that way, the carnival is offering for the first time a bracelet that provides entry to all rides all day long for $8. ``We want to see families with strollers, having a good time and staying all day,'' said John Costabile, event chairman. The carnival will begin today and will run through Sunday on the church grounds at 1305 Royal Ave. Event hours are 6-11 p.m. today, 2-11 p.m. Saturday and 2-10 p.m. Sunday. Admission for those 16 and older is $2. Single-ride tickets will be sold. The petting zoo and pony rides are an additional cost. The best deal, organizers say, is the $8 ride bracelet. Costabile credits the Rev. Michael Carcerano, the church's pastor, with keeping prices down and sparking interest that attracted over 350 volunteers. ``Volunteers are coming out of the woodwork and enthusiasm is sky high,'' Costabile said.
