CHUM Television and Shaw Cablesystems G.P. - Reach Agreement to Launch MuchMoreMusic, Canadian Learning Television and Star.

CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 11,1998-- SHAW(TSE:SCL.B.) (Alberta Stock Exchange:SCL.B.) (Alberta Stock Exchange:SCL.A.) (NYSE:SJR) CHUM Television and Shaw Cablesystems G.P. are pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement to launch MuchMoreMusic, Canadian Learning Television and Star.

On October 9th, Shaw will add MuchMoreMusic to its basic cable service in all major and mid-size markets including Victoria, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Barrie, Scarborough and Richmond Hill. These markets will provide MuchMoreMusic with access to approximately 1.4 million subscribers across Canada.

In addition to the MuchMoreMusic agreement, Shaw Cablesystems and CHUM have also agreed to terms of distribution for Canadian Learning Television and Star - The Entertainment Information Station as part of Shaw's digital cable television service. Shaw is currently offering digital cable services in Toronto and Calgary and plans to launch digital cable service in other major markets.

MuchMoreMusic is Great Music on Television: Canada's highly-anticipated music programming and entertainment channel, delivering 24 hours a day of adult contemporary music, light rock, classic hits, soul, R & B, as well as some reggae, jazz and new age music videos, plus concerts and specialty programming. MuchMoreMusic goes on the air September 30th, 1998.
