CHRYSLER NEW YORKER PRODUCTION BEGINS AT BRAMALEA ASSEMBLY PLANT

BRAMPTON, Ontario, Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The first of Chrysler Corporation's (NYSE: C) all-new full-size luxury sedans -- a teal 1994 Chrysler New Yorker -- rolled off the assembly line at the company's Bramalea (Brampton, Ontario) Assembly Plant.
The New Yorker offers Chrysler's trademark "cab forward" architecture, which expands the amount of usable passenger space. It also features standard driver- and passenger-side airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, ride-tuned suspension, and is powered by a 3.5-liter, 24-valve, V-6 overhead cam engine.
Today's production launch of the six-passenger New Yorker marks the fourth new vehicle developed by Chrysler's Large Car Platform Team. It will be followed shortly by the full-size five-passenger Chrysler LHS.
The LHS is a fully equipped luxury vehicle with leather seats, sports suspension, 16-inch spiralcast aluminum wheels, antilock brakes, traction control, automatic temperature control, overhead console, illuminated entry system, solar glass windows and a security system. The only available option is a compact disc player.
The 2.5 million-square-foot Bramalea Assembly Plant also builds the Chrysler Concorde, Dodge Intrepid and Eagle Vision mid-size sedans on a two-shift operation with 3,000 employees. The Bramalea Assembly Plant has been building the mid-size sedans since June 30, 1992.
