CHRYSLER 1993 LH SERIES BEGINS PRODUCTION TODAY; CHRYSLER CHAIRMAN
LEE IACOCCA ON HAND WITH PLANT EMPLOYEES TO WELCOME NEW CAR
BRAMPTON, Ontario, June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Today at approximately 10:30 a.m. (EST) the first of Chrysler Corporation's (NYSE: C) eagerly awaited and anticipated LH sedans, the Eagle Vision, rolled off the line at Chrysler's Bramalea Assembly Plant, located outside Toronto. The plant was recently tooled with highly automated equipment and state-of- the-art production lines to turn out the new sedans and to ensure world- class quality.
The LH series and the Bramalea Assembly Plant represent a $1.6 billion investment for Chrysler. The Eagle Vision, Chrysler Concorde and Dodge Intrepid begin arriving in dealer showrooms later this summer.
The LH series represents not only a new approach to developing automobiles, but a new design direction for Chrysler. The LH vehicles, which introduce cab-forward design, provide greater visibility and more interior space when compared to other mid-size sedans.
The LH is the result of Chrysler's much talked about platform team development process. With this new process, all disciplines work together from the initial design of the vehicle. A team made up of experts from Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance and other departments, along with suppliers, joined forces to build these world- class, mid-size sedans in record time. The result: the first LH vehicle, the Eagle Vision, rolled off the line three and one-half years later, a record development time for an American car company.
