 officers in Los Angeles County will be collecting canned food and clothing to be sent to the victims in Honduras and Nicaragua,'' CHP officials said in a statement Tuesday.

``The two Central American countries (were) decimated by this natural disaster. The toll from this catastrophe is more than 11,000 people dead and more than 100,000 people left homeless,'' the CHP statement said.

Other items being sought include blankets, shoes and jackets.
