. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

National Data Retrieval, which also is based in Alpharetta, has 26 fulltime employees, all of whom will be retained, plus a nationwide network of approximately 400 independent collection contractors. The privately held company privately held company

NDR's products, services and public records databases of nearly 43 million records will complement ChoicePoint's existing Court Research and Retrieval Group (CRRG), which processed approximately 5 million records requests in 2002. NDR's customers will gain access to ChoicePoint's CRRG technology and records collection facilities, supported by ChoicePoint's proprietary database of more than 16 billion public records.

"We are pleased to acquire the expertise of National Data Retrieval, which greatly enhances ChoicePoint's civil records collection capabilities," said Andy Guberman, vice president of ChoicePoint's record operations. "The combination of ChoicePoint and NDR strengthens our presence in this important market and supports the continued growth of our Court Research and Retrieval Group."

The acquisition represents a significant advancement for ChoicePoint, which previously had purchased civil records while it collected its own criminal records for WorkPlace Solutions customers and its National Criminal File product of more than 63 million records of convictions. "Given ChoicePoint's scale resulting from its significant growth over the past several years, it is now more cost effective to bring the civil records collection process in-house In-house
