CHOICE Administrators(R) President Addresses CAHP on Employee Choice and Defined Contribution.

ORANGE, Calif. -- Ron Goldstein, president of CHOICE Administrators[R], was a featured speaker at the California Association of Health Plans (CAHP CAHP California Association of Highway Patrolmen

, leading a session that addressed the benefits of Employee Choice health benefit programs based on defined contribution. CAHP is a statewide trade association representing the majority of licensed healthcare service plans and has been an active voice for the healthcare industry for nearly 20 years.

Goldstein's presentation explored the topic: "Myth & Reality: Products, Market Share and Coverage in California." He addressed the timely issue of how to expand healthcare coverage and reduce the number of uninsured individuals. "Any solution to increasing health coverage must begin with improving its design," Goldstein stated, "giving people the choice of buying the health coverage that suits them best."

Goldstein noted that consumers are demanding more choices in all their purchasing decisions and healthcare is no exception. "Employees are not willing to accept the 'one-size-fits-all' concept of health insurance because it doesn't always suit their needs or their pocket books," he said. "Today, everyone is offering more choices, including high deductible That which may be taken away or subtracted. Goldstein is highly regarded as California's leading expert on Employee Choice since he was instrumental in the development of the state's first Employee Choice program, called CaliforniaChoice, in 1996. It became the fastest-growing small-group plan in the state and today is California's leader in Employee Choice healthcare programs.
