Along with free samples of chocolate treats, dozens of local businesses and civic groups displayed information about their organizations at booths set up in the gymnasium of Moorpark College Moorpark College is a California-state funded community college located on a 134 acre (542,000 m²) property reclining on a hill in Moorpark, a town in Ventura County, California. . Sponsored by the Moorpark Rotary, the festival was a fund-raiser for the Moorpark Unified School District A unified school district is a school district which includes both primary school (kindergarten through middle school or junior high) and high school (grades 9-12). In Illinois, these districts are called unit school districts. .

"Our specific goal is to raise funds to increase technology in the Moorpark school district," said Carolyn Schrimpf, a Rotary Club member and executive director of the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce. "The people attending have been really happy with it."

Schrimpf said the combination of a trade fair, chocolate smorgasbord and community gathering was patterned after a similar festival in the Antelope Valley This article is about the Los Angeles County region. For the census-designated place in Wyoming, see Antelope Valley-Crestview, Wyoming.

The local goal was more modest. Rotarians hoped that, when the admission and vendor fees get tallied, they will have raised close to $30,000.

"I think it's a good community get-together. You get a chance to meet the businesses in the area - and there's too much chocolate," said Bruce Cretal of Moorpark, after sampling one too many confections.

His daughter, 7-year-old Kristin, however, said she liked all the chocolate and had tasted "lots of candies."

Cretal also praised the charitable cause for the event, noting that his daughter attends second grade in the Moorpark school system and will benefit from improved resources.

"It's a good thing for the schools because they're donating to them," he said.

"We believe in community support. Many of us are members of Rotary Clubs throughout Ventura County," said Don Weber, who was representing AT&T Wireless.

Next to the AT&T booth, Matt Budnik explained to visitors the uses for an extensive emergency medical kit on display from CareLine California, an ambulance company that serves the area.

"We saw this as a chance to do a little public relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. By its nature, public relations is devoted to serving particular interests by presenting them to the public in the most  and as an opportunity to help people get prepared for emergencies," Budnik said.
