CHK's Collaboration with Cooper Power Systems Receives First Implementation Order.

CHK Wireless Technologies Inc. (CDNX:CHK) ("CHK') is pleased to report that Western Power Corporation (WPC) of Australia has purchased a unique GLOMES system that was developed and trialed in collaboration with Cooper Power Systems, a subsidiary of Cooper Industries Inc. (NYSE:CBE).

For the first time CHK's GLOMES System integrates a control plug-in to operate network protection and isolation devices in remote regional areas of Western Australia. The system facilitates low cost SCADA at the feeder level, permitting real-time Powergrid control, a long desired goal of Utilities, that was generally too expensive before GLOMES was developed.

The initial order was placed after a live demonstration, including the remote control of a Cooper Power Systems Form 4C recloser, a motorized Pole Top Switch and a set of CHK LT40 network loggers, The demonstration was conducted at the WPC Regional Power offices in Perth, Australia through the combined effort of engineers from WPC, CHK, Star Track Communications, Falcon Engineering and Cooper Power Systems.

The package includes network loggers, pole mounted collators and communications hardware, as well as GLOMES software, The communications system consists of the Star Track Communications Limited satellite based network, the MT2000 data terminals and the Star Track Response Centre, operating twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. In essence, this package allows WPC to supervise and control their remote networks. including isolation of faulted sections and improvement of customer supply reliability statistics. The system will initially be installed and trialed in the remote Esperance area.

CHK's patented GLOMES system, with its GLOMESview software, provides immediate information and answers from the field by time stamping events, linking 'Cause and Effect across all voltages throughout a power distribution network. This allows Utilities to isolate faults, restore power quickly and proactively improve their network. Also, potential problems can be identified before costly downtime occurs and supply quality can be increased. The GLOMES system was developed to dramatically improve both supply reliability and quality, two major issues facing utilities today. The network logging sensors (CHK's patented LINEtracker system) provide, on a real time basis, previously unavailable wide-spread and detailed network visibility, including load date, switchgear duty cycles, etc, to assist asset managers and planners to target maintenance and more efficiently manage the network.

Western Power Corporation has operations throughout the state of Western Australia and owns five major power stations and 26 smaller regional stations with a total capacity of 3280 megawatts. Western Power also operates and maintains all except one of the major power stations - Collie Power Station is privately operated and maintained. The 794,000 industrial, commercial and residential customers are supplied through two major interconnected systems - the South West and the North West Interconnected Systems - as well as 29 separate systems in remote areas, the target areas for the GLOMES system.
