CARSON - It wasn't the final nail, but the message was hammered home.

Chivas USA wasn't mathematically eliminated from Major League Soccer's playoffs Saturday, but after losing 3-0 to the Columbus Crew The Columbus Crew is a professional soccer club based in Columbus, Ohio that participates in Major League Soccer. Palencia and Garcia were non-factors, and John Wolyniec John Wolyniec (born January 24, 1977 in Staten Island, New York) is an American soccer forward, who currently plays for Red Bull New York of Major League Soccer.

Wolyniec played college soccer at Fordham University, where he led the nation in goals in 1997 and 1998.
 scored twice and Glen Cornell added a goal and assist as Columbus (9-12-3), the last-place team in the Eastern Conference, claimed a convincing victory to keep its playoff hopes alive.

With six games remaining, Chivas will be eliminated from playoff contention with another loss or another Colorado victory. The Rapids (9-11-4), 1-0 winners Saturday over D.C. United, have eight games left.

Goalkeeper Sergio Garcia, one of four new Mexicans on the Chivas roster, made his MLS See multilevel security.  debut, and he answered his first big challenge, making a spectacular reaction save on Glen in the 19th minute.

He was beaten 15 minutes later by Glen, who intercepted Ramon Ramirez's risky pass, streaked alone into the Chivas box and fired through Garcia's legs.
