LaDonna and Brauer tried to get Buddy off of Davis, to no avail. Brauer screamed for her son-in-law, who came out of the house with a gun and fired a shot and hit Ollie. But the bullet did not faze the chimp, so he ran back into the house, reloaded the gun and eventually killed Buddy, Chealander said. While Buddy lay dead, Ollie started dragging Davis, a large man, down a trail while biting the bleeding and helpless man. The son-in-law then shot and killed Ollie. On Friday, investigators with the state's Department of Fish and Game examined the chimps cages and the grounds trying to find out how they escaped. Investigators were vague about how the chimps got out.
