CHIME TO IMAGINE.

THE bells of a cathedral in John Lennon's home city of Liverpool yesterday rang out to his antireligious anthem, Imagine.

Hundreds of people gathered to hear the tune of the 1971 song, which begins "Imagine there's no Heaven", chime from the

Anglican Cathedral. The former Beatle, murdered in New York in 1980, described the song as "antireligious" but Liverpool Cathedral said it had considered the "sensitivities" involved.

Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono said the idea was "beautiful".
