CHIME'S UP FOR NEW GAFFER.


PORTSMOUTH City Council have axed plans to name one of the Pompey Chimes after Harry Redknapp Henry James "Harry" Redknapp (born March 2 1947) is an English former footballer who has had a long career in football management and is the current manager of Portsmouth in the English Premier League. .

The new Spurs boss will receive the freedom of Portsmouth today as reward for winning the FA Cup in May - but his name will not be inscribed in·scribe

 on one of the five bells in Portsmouth Guildhall's clock tower.

The bells ring to the tune of Play Up Pompey and were last rung three years ago, but are now set to be repaired.

"We were going to name one after Harry but we'll think again now," said Gerald Vernon-Jackson, leader of Portsmouth City Council.
