CHIMBOLE TO LEAD FAIR LINEUP LANCASTER BOULEVARD PARADE TO BEGIN AT 9 A.M.

LANCASTER -- Former Palmdale Mayor Larry Chimbole -- who was also a state assemblyman, Antelope Valley Hospital director and Antelope Valley Fair board member -- will be grand marshal of today's Antelope Valley Fair parade.

The 87-year-old Chimbole, who was a B-17 bomber crewman during World War II and ran a hardware store when he became Palmdale's first mayor when the city incorporated in 1962, will ride at the front of a 72-entry parade that includes school bands, classic cars, youth groups, floats and community queens.

The parade will start at 9 a.m. at 10th Street West and Lancaster Boulevard, and rolls east on Lancaster Boulevard to Sierra Highway.

The theme is ``Let the Good Times Grow,'' the same as the fair's theme.
