It's tough enough to believe there's a possibility of rain today. But snow?

Twenty tons of the cold stuff - courtesy of Newhall Ice - will begin falling about 10 a.m. on the River Oaks shopping center shopping center, a concentration of retail, service, and entertainment enterprises designed to serve the surrounding region. The modern shopping center differs from its antecedents—bazaars and marketplaces—in that the shops are usually amalgamated into  parking lots.

It's the annual Christmas in July fund-raiser for the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  Food Pantry, which serves about 2,000 needy residents each month.

Children, and their parents, too, can play in the snow from 10 a.m. until it melts in the steamy 90- to 100-degree temperatures predicted by the National Weather Service. In keeping with the holiday spirit, youngsters can have their pictures taken with Santa Claus Santa Claus: see Nicholas, Saint.
