CHILL OUT JENSON, SAYS NIKI.
GRAND PRIX legend Niki Lauda has told Jenson Button to relax in order to sort out his Formula One woes.
The three-time F1 champ reckons the 29-year-old is trying too hard and should chill out. It has now been two and half months since the last of Button's six wins.
But despite leading the drivers' standings by 18 points, Lauda believes the Briton is getting rattled by the form of team-mate Rubens Barrichello, winner in Valencia on Sunday. Button was seventh and outqualified by his teammate for the third time in four races.
That could prove costly as several of the remaining circuits favour the Red Bull race machine, especially Spa and Monza.
But Lauda said: "In the past I had a similar problem and I really got worried.
"It was with Alain Prost. I couldn't handle the turbo power so I concentrated on the races and won the championship that way.
"Jenson could have won in Valencia. With the Vettel and Webber disaster he would have been laughing all the way to the title.
"Instead he has made his life more difficult. Now he must really push hard to get himself under control and get the most out of his car.
"The problem must be something within Jenson as the cars are the same and he was dominating Barrichello from the beginning.
"Something must have gone wrong in his own mind. He must find the solution within himself and I think he will."
OUT THE FAST LANE Jenson Button
