The Antelope Valley
 Fairgrounds n. pl. 1. same as fairground.  will open Saturday for children, teen-agers and their parents at the first Antelope Valley Youth Expo.

Admission will be free for music, a fashion show, demonstrations and other attractions at the event, which will run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the fairgrounds, 155 E. Ave. I.

A youth committee advised the organizers - civic leaders including representatives of local schools and nonprofit organizations - on the program for those 5 to 17 and their parents.

Among the performers will be vocalist Elizabeth Gonzalez with the Estrella mariachi musicians, the Cactus School jazz musicians and the Quail Valley School Steppers.

The Trash Can Trio, three drummers who play on trash cans, will entertain throughout the day.

Sheriff's vehicles and fire engines will be on display. Demonstrations will be given in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), emergency procedure used to treat victims of cardiac and respiratory arrest. CPR can be done in a hospital with drugs and special equipment or as a first-aid technique. .

For younger children, there will be a petting zoo, a bounce house and storytelling.
