Angel Negrete was just 5 but he had the kind of smile that endeared him to teachers and fellow kindergartners at Newhall Elementary School elementary school: see school. .

Harrison said she has very fond memories of Angel. ``He was in our first preschool graduating class last year and that will always be a special group because they were the first and he was a part of it.

``I was listening to (Farley) talk about Angel and she was saying how he was always so happy and friendly. Well, another thing about him that stood out was that he eagerly came to school and had an eagerness to learn,'' Harrison said.

Farley said students in her class were very upset at the news of Angel's death and had many questions.

``They didn't understand that he won't be coming back,'' Farley said. ``Tomorrow it should be a little worse because their parents will have explained things to them and I'm sure it will sink in then.''
