To Break Ground At VA Connecticut, West Haven
AGOURA, Calif., Oct. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- On Monday, October 23 at 10:30 a.m., Children's Wonderland will break ground for the nation's first full-service intergenerational day care center at a Veterans Administration facility. The center, which will be at the West Haven West Haven, town (1990 pop. 54,021), New Haven co., S Conn., a suburb across the West River from New Haven; settled 1638, inc. as a separate borough 1873. Although mainly residential, there are diversified manufacturing industries. campus of the VA Connecticut, Healthcare System, will accommodate 200 attendees, ranging from 6 weeks to senior citizen status, and represents Children's Wonderland's first East Coast center. With headquarters in Agoura, CA, Children's Wonderland now has five centers in Southern CA and five in Denver, Colorado. Ten additional new sites are underway in California, Florida and Nevada, and 77 are planned in the next three years. Marketing strategy is to place centers at or near the work site, in conjunction with corporate or governmental employers. What makes Children's Wonderland completely unique among all providers is the range of services it offers in a single location: for infants/toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarten, before and after school programs, summer camp, mildly ill care, intergenerational elder care in which seniors from age 60 interact daily in the same center with children, and a family resource center with a licensed therapist to provide assistance for family members and caregivers alike in solving problems common to working families.
