All six children, whose names and ages were not released, were taken to hospitals for treatment, officials said. Two were flown by helicopter to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Reports on their conditions were not available Tuesday.

The CHP said James was driving nephews and neighbor children around in a Ford Bronco to look at Christmas lights.

While driving north on Longview Road, just south of Palmdale Boulevard, the Bronco bronco: see mustang.  drifted onto the road's dirt shoulder.

James turned the steering wheel too far back to the left, the CHP said, causing the Bronco to overturn. The sport-utility vehicle's top came off as it overturned, officials said.
