, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Children's Comprehensive Services, Inc. For the fourth quarter of fiscal 1996, total revenues increased 22.4% to $7,291,000 from $5,958,000 for the fourth quarter of fiscal 1995. For the same periods, net income rose 58.9% to $1,047,000 from $659,000 and net income per share increased 50.0% to $0.18 from $0.12.

Total revenues for fiscal 1996 grew 17.0% to $24,702,000 from $21,109,000 for fiscal 1995. Income before extraordinary item increased 35.4% to $2,578,000 from $1,904,000. Income per share before extraordinary item increased 21.6% to $0.45 for fiscal 1996 from $0.37 for fiscal 1995.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Ballard said, "The fourth quarter's financial results capped an outstanding year for CCS. The Company's growth for the quarter was driven by a number of factors that positively affected its financial results throughout the year. Mr. Ballard added, "During fiscal 1996, the Company began to reap the benefits of the comprehensive marketing campaign it launched in the third quarter of fiscal 1995. The campaign, which is ongoing, continues to provide results. Subsequent to year end, we announced that CCS had won the right to negotiate a contract for a juvenile justice alternative school for 400 students in Texas. The school is scheduled to open for the 1996-1997 school year.
