CHILDREN'S CHORAL GROUPS WIN HONORS AT FESTIVAL.

 Children's Choir received top honors at the Music in the Parks Music in the Parks is a day-long adjudication festival for student choral, orchestral, and band ensembles, held annually across North America. Music groups perform before adjudicators who rate the ensemble in the morning, and then spend the day at an amusement park such as Six  festival held March 22 at Disneyland.

The Advanced Choir, composed of children ages 8-12, won the Best Overall Choral Group award. The Youth Chorale chorale (kōrăl`, –räl`), any of the traditional hymns of the German Protestant Church. The form was developed after the Reformation to replace the plainsong of the earlier service and as a means of congregational participation in , singers 13-17, earned awards for excellent ratings for all aspects of their performance.

The festival included school and community musical groups from California, Utah and Arizona.

``We are excited about these awards, as they reflect the hard work and dedication of our kids and their families,'' said Nancy Schuette, Antelope Valley Children's Choir music director. ``Our community should be proud of its talented children.''

The choirs performed a blend of traditional favorites and classical numbers in their vocal performances. The advanced choir sang three numbers, ``Round the Riverside,'' ``Bist du bei mir'' and ``Two for the Price of One,'' in its winning performance. The youth chorale was lauded for ``Bye, Bye Blackbird,'' ``Festival Jubilate'' and ``River in Judea.''
