CHILD SEX PICS SEIZED IN RAID.
GARDAI seized computer equipment which they believe contains 500 images of child pornography from a house, it emerged yesterday.
The raid was carried out in Co Limerick on Tuesday after a tip-off from the public. No arrests have been made but an investigation is ongoing.
A file on the matter is being prepared for the DPP.
The raid was part of Operation Amethyst, in which hundreds of Gardai launched dawn raids on various homes and businesses.
Computers and discs which contained material of a pornographic nature were seized during the busts.
They have not ruled out the possibility that the owner of the material was part of a national or international child pornography operation.
Last month Gardai seized personal computer tapes and books containing porn from a home in Newcastle-west, Co Limerick.
A man was arrested and questioned but later released.
