CHILD MOLESTER ARRESTED MANHUNT ENDS FOR PAROLEE ACCUSED OF BEATING NIECE.

SANTA CLARITA - A convicted child molester accused of beating and attempting to rape his 12-year-old niece in her Canyon Country home is behind bars, arrested Thursday morning in Mission Hills.

Pierce is accused of trapping his niece Monday afternoon in a bedroom of the Canyon Country apartment he shared with his sister and her daughter since his release from prison Feb. 2, sheriff's officials said. The child told deputies that Pierce beat her and attempted to remove her pants before he became distracted and she was able to escape through a window and summon help.

When deputies arrived, Pierce had fled.

Surveillance teams composed of sheriff's deputies, the Major Crimes Bureau Surveillance Apprehension Team, the U.S. Marshal's Office and the California Parole Apprehension Team received information that Pierce was staying at the motel in Mission Hills and were able to make the arrest when he returned.
