CHILD & FAMILY CENTER BUILDING NEW FACILITY.

Byline: Sharon Cotal Staff Writer

Construction is under way on Redview Drive in Saugus for the new Child & Family Center facility, which will allow the organization to provide more services to families in the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  when the two-story, 26,000-square-foot building is completed in October.

With more space, the center will be able to increase the size of the Kids Corner preschool, add more counseling offices and include a parents' resource center to house the Circle of Care program, said Chief Executive Officer Liz Seipel.

``It's a wonderful opportunity for us to provide more services in a much nicer facility,'' she said.

But the new building, which was planned in 1997, will still not be large enough to accommodate all of the center's needs and satellite offices will continue to be used.

``We've been growing so quickly over the past couple of years that we will still need more counseling offices than the new facility will allow,'' Seipel said. ``We've had an incredible amount of growth.''

The major source of funding for the project is the Department of Mental Health, with additional funds received from the Department of Probation, the Department of Drug and Alcohol Administration, and through fund-raisers organized by the Child & Family Center Foundation.

The next fund-raiser will take place May 6 with the 13th annual Taste of the Town held at the Rio Vista Rio Vista may refer to:
