CHILD'S DEATH INVESTIGATED HOSPITAL SUSPECTED ABUSE.

Paramedics responded to a seizure call at a Castaic residence Friday afternoon and transported the child to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia.

The hospital summoned deputies from the Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  sheriff's station.

It was not clear when the child died.

The child's mother, who cleans houses, arrived Friday with two children and a man to clean a Castaic residence. The family lives in a motel in Van Nuys, Gump said.

``It looks like the dad and two kids came with her to work,'' he said.

Sheriff's deputies who arrived at the hospital summoned homicide detectives, who were en route to Newhall Memorial shortly before 5 p.m.

Gump said no arrests had been made as of Friday evening.
