CHICK-FIL-A TO INTRODUCE ALTERNATIVE MENUS FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED AND DISABLED PATRONS

ATLANTA, March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A, Inc., the nation's third-largest quick-service chicken restaurant company, is continuing its mission "to be America's best quick-service restaurant at satisfying every customer" by introducing two new menus designed for the visually impaired and patrons with special needs.
Beginning this month, large print and Braille menus are available in all Chick-fil-A(R) restaurants. The menus are wall-mounted to be easily accessible to patrons in wheelchairs or with limited mobility.
The five-page Braille and four-page large print menus include the same menu items featured on the traditional lighted menu boards in Chick-fil-A mall, free-standing, and Chick-fil-A Dwarf House(R) restaurants.
"The decision to offer these additional menus reflects our dedication to satisfying the whole spectrum of customers who frequent our restaurants," said James L.S. Collins, president of Chick-fil-A, Inc.
According to Collins, this gesture is an additional positive customer attribute that demonstrates Chick-fil-A's chainwide service and product mission "to be America's best quick-service restaurant at satisfying every customer."
The chain has already been voted America's favorite chicken chain by consumers in the annual "Choice in Chains" survey conducted by the National Family Opinion research firm for Restaurants & Institutions magazine.
In addition to being rated the chicken chain category winner, Chick-fil-A ranked first in food quality among all quick-service chains and third in service among all restaurant categories.
Chick-fil-A currently operates more than 480 restaurants in 31 states. In 1992, the chain posted record systemwide sales of $356 million -- nearly a 10 percent increase over 1991 and its 25th consecutive annual sales increase.
