CHICAGO AUTO SHOW RAISES $350,000 FOR CHARITY

CHICAGO, Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The stars were out among the cars at the second annual Charity Preview of the Chicago Auto Show held Friday, Feb. 5. Actress Shelley Fabares, former Chicago Bears Coach Mike Ditka, former Chicago Bear Jim Covert, x-Chicago Bull Bob Love, Chicago Cub All Star Ron Santo, and Chicago Bulls Announcer Tom Dorr mingled among guests as they previewed the newest and most exciting in new cars.
Approximately $350,000 was raised for Chicago area charities as over 3,000 guests gazed upon shiny autos, sipped fine champagne, enjoyed delicious hors d'oeuvres and music by the Allan Lake Orchestra.
The Alzheimer's Association, Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Little City Foundation, and March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation were grateful for all monies raised at the $100 ticket evening. Illinois Secretary of State George Ryan, who served as the evenings general chairman, welcomed guests and praised the Chicago Auto Show's efforts to help those less fortunate.
The Charity Preview proceeds the official opening of the Auto Show, which takes place today. At that time Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and Illinois Secretary of State George Ryan will open the doors at the official ribbon cutting ceremony.
The Chicago Auto Show runs from Feb. 6 through Feb. 14 at McCormick Place. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens, and $1 for pre-teens. Ample parking is available.
Close to one million visitors are expected to visit the show this year.
