CHI KAPPA OMEGA SEEKS DEBUTANTES FOR NEW SEASON CULTURAL ENRICHMENT IS PROVIDED.

LANCASTER -- Chi Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Kappa Alpha may refer to:
  • Kappa Alpha Society, an American college Greek-letter fraternity, founded 1817 at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
 Sorority sorority: see fraternity.  is making plans for its 2007 Debutante Cotillion.

Prospective candidates are selected from the local area and are referred through schools, churches, organizations, family and friends.

The sorority is seeking young ladies ages 16 to 19 to participate.

The debutante season will provide the debutantes with experiences in cultural enrichment, college and career planning, personal grooming

Personal grooming, or simply grooming, is the art of cleaning, grooming, and maintaining parts of the body.

Each participant selected must adhere to adhere to

 the established criteria of maintaining good academic standing, volunteer community service and good moral values and self respect. The culminating event will be a formal affair where the debutantes are presented to society.

Additionally, debutantes will have the opportunity to receive scholarships to help pay college expenses as a result of participation in the cotillion.

The black-tie event will be held in March 2007.

Young women interested in participating should contact Katrina Emery at (661) 274-8416 or Laurel McCrary at (661)946-1334 by Oct.10 to receive an invitation to the informational meeting to be held at 3p.m. Oct.15.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is the nation's oldest black sorority, founded in 1908 on the campus of Howard University Howard University, at Washington, D.C.; coeducational; with federal support. It was founded in 1867 by Gen. Oliver O. Howard of the Freedmen's Bureau, to provide education for newly emancipated slaves. A normal and preparatory department was opened the same year. .
