 CHEVRON OVERSEAS PETROLEUM APPOINTS PRICE, DUPRE
 FOR BUSINESS IN THE COMMONWEALTH OF INDEPENDENT STATES
 SAN FRANCISCO, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Chevron Overseas Petroleum Inc. (COPI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Chevron Corporation, has announced two major appointments related to its business ventures in the Commonwealth of Independent States (formerly the Soviet Union), effective July 1, 1992.
 Espy P. Price has been named vice president, Commonwealth of Independent States Business Unit in San Ramon, Calif., and Morley J. Dupre has been appointed managing director - Tengiz Business Unit.
 Price, 51, was formerly vice president and general manager, Gulf of Mexico Business Unit, Chevron U.S.A. Production Company in New Orleans. In his new position, he will be responsible for Chevron's pending joint venture in the Republic of Kazakhstan and other potential development activities in the CIS.
 Dupre, 46, was general manager of the CIS Business Unit. As managing director - Tengiz Business Unit, he will direct the company's joint venture to develop the Tengiz and Korolev oil fields on the northeastern Caspian Sea coast in western Kazakhstan.
 A Louisiana native, Price joined the Chevron companies in 1963 as a petroleum engineer in Lafayette, La. He became senior reservoir engineer in 1972 for Caltex Pacific Indonesia, a Chevron affiliate, in Sumatra, Indonesia. He returned to the United States in November, 1975 and held several engineering positions in Louisiana and Texas before transferring to London in 1979 as senior staff reservoir engineer, Chevron Petroleum (U.K.) Ltd. He held management positions in Ninian field operations in Scotland from 1980-1983.
 In Sept. 1983, Price became division manager of the Lafayette, La., production division of Chevron U.S.A. He was named senior vice president of Caltex Pacific Indonesia in Sumatra in 1985 and managing director in 1988, a position he held until his appointment as vice president and general manager, Gulf of Mexico Business Unit, in Oct. 1990. He holds a bachelors and a masters degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Southwestern Louisiana.
 Dupre, also a Louisiana native, began his career with Chevron as a construction engineer in 1967 after graduating with a bachelors degree in electrical engineering from Louisiana State University. Among his earlier assignments, he was a drilling engineer, power engineer and assistant project manager for Caltex Pacific Indonesia in Sumatra. In addition, he held a staff advisory position on Chevron's Foreign Staff and served as senior operations advisor in COPI.
 Dupre was managing director of COPI's Papua New Guinea Strategic Business Unit for more than two years. From 1985 to 1989, when he moved to Papua New Guinea, he was in charge of facilities engineering for COPI. He was appointed general manager of the Commonwealth of Independent States Strategic Business Unit in September 1991.
