LEONA VALLEY - Equestrians, youth groups and antique cars An antique car is generally defined as a car over 25 years of age, this being the definition used by the Antique Automobile Club of America and many other organizations worldwide. However, the legal definition for the purpose of antique vehicle registration varies widely.  will hit the street Saturday at the annual Cherry Parade and Festival hosted by the Leona Valley Improvement Association and the Cherry Growers Association.

The parade begins at 11 a.m., with the Cherry Festival craft fair following at the community center. This year there are two themes, ``Got Cherries?'' and ``Get Cherried Away in Leona Valley.''

The themes were suggested by Austin Clark and Dusty Nabors, who will ride in the parade as junior grand marshals Grand Marshal is a ceremonial, military, or political office of very high rank. The term has its origins with the word "Marshal" with the first usage of the term "Grand Marshal" as a ceremonial title for certain religious orders. .

Visitors are advised to arrive either before 10:30 a.m. or after noon, as roads will be closed during the parade.

The parade will begin at Leona Avenue and 90th Street West, run north on 90th to Elizabeth Lake Road, then east to the Leona Valley Community Center, 8367 Elizabeth Lake Road.

The festival itself runs from noon to about 4 p.m. at the community center. Visitors can eat barbecued food and cherry pie Cherry pie is a pie made with a cherry filling.

Morello cherries (sour cherries) are often used in cherry pies. Cherries are expensive — and sweet varieties are best used eaten fresh and raw. Sour cherries are best for cooking and may be used fresh or preserved.

Leona Valley is nine miles Nine Miles is a reggae "band" started by Yoshiaki Manabe (真鍋吉明) of The Pillows. The name Nine Miles comes from the name of the town in which Bob Marley grew up in Jamaica.

 west of the Antelope Valley Freeway The Antelope Valley Freeway is a freeway in Los Angeles and Kern counties in southern California. It is signed as California State Highway 14 along its length.
