CHEP USA ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE APPOINTMENTS TO MEET NEW CHALLENGES.

PARK RIDGE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 10, 1996--As an integral part of the Chep USA's drive to provide its customer base with the best possible service, and to explore new opportunities to help industry become more productive, Bobby Moore, President and CEO, has named a new corporate management group.

"The new team mixes a variety of business experiences and management talents, with individuals drawn from the ranks of Chep USA and other leading corporations. This diversity will give the company both the steadiness of managers who have been involved with Chep since its formation and the freshness of managers who have worked in different corporate environments," said Moore.

"We now have an executive staff that will bring us successfully into the next century." The new appointments, all of which are effective immediately, are:

Joseph Pinto, formerly Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Chep USA, has been named Executive Vice President/Latin America, a new position. He is responsible for heading operations in Mexico and Chile, as well as for developing the remainder of the South and Central America markets.

Roger M. Miller, formerly Senior Vice President of Finance for Cott Beverages USA, was named Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Chep USA, Canada and Latin America, replacing Pinto. His responsibilities include building a world class finance organization, with the focus of flawlessly serving Chep's internal and external customer base.

Mark R.H. Sheppard was named General Manager of the North American Automotive Division, a new position. His responsibilities include developing the use of the Chep container and pallet pooling system within the Automotive Manufacturing Industry in North America, including selling customers, sourcing containers, signing on suppliers and managing the pool. Since July 1995, Sheppard has led Chep's research study team investigating the potential for Chep's pooling system in the Automotive sector.

Mike Helm, formerly Director of Human Resources for Pepsi Cola of North America of its Florida business unit, was named Vice President of Human Resources for Chep USA. His responsibilities include recruitment, benefits and compensation administration, training and career development.

Rex M. Lowe was named Vice President of Business Development for Chep USA, a new position. Lowe was formerly Director of Operations at Chep USA-South in Atlanta. Lowe is responsible for broadening the scope of Chep USA's pallet and container pooling services.

The following managers join these appointees to complete the Chep USA executive team: Moore; David J. Lee, Senior Vice President--Northeast; Clifford K. Otto, Senior Vice President--Midwest; David M. Shumate, Senior Vice President--South; David O. Rodgers, Senior Vice President--West; Gary Garkowski, Vice President--Marketing; and Denis E. Reilly, Vice President--Operations Chep USA.

All of the executives report to Moore.

JOSEPH PINTO

Joseph Pinto is Executive Vice President/Latin America for Chep USA. He is responsible for heading the Chep operations in Mexico and Chile, as well as for developing the remainder of the South and Central America markets.

From 1992 until his current appointment, Pinto was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Chep USA. Since joining the Chep team in 1980, Pinto has assisted in launching and managing several pallet pool initiatives throughout Europe. Prior to joining Chep USA in 1990, he was chairman of Chep France and Chep Spain.

Pinto earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Rouen University in France and his Master's in Business Administration from Manchester University in Great Britain.

Pinto is based at the company's headquarters in Orlando.

ROGER M. MILLER

Roger M. Miller is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Chep USA, Canada and Latin America. His responsibilities include building a world class finance organization, with the focus of flawlessly serving Chep's external and internal customer base.

Prior to joining Chep USA, Miller was Senior Vice President of Finance for Cott Beverages USA, Inc. in San Mateo, CA. He was responsible for leading the company's finance team utilizing strategic planning, cash management and banking relations.

From 1979 to 1995, Miller worked for The Pepsi Cola Company at several different locations throughout the United States. Most recently, he was General Manager for the Pepsi division in San Jose, CA, serving previously as CFO and Director of Planning at the Orlando division.

Miller received a BBA in Accounting from The University of Georgia in 1975. A Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant, he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has also served as President of the Florida Soft Drink Association.

Miller, his wife Kay and their two children will relocate to Orlando from the San Francisco area.

MARK R.H. SHEPPARD

Mark R.H. Sheppard is Vice President and General Manager of the North American Automotive Division for Chep USA. His responsibilities include developing the use of the Chep USA container and pallet pooling system within the Automotive Industry in North America. The North American Automotive Division is based in Auburn Hills, MI, near Detroit.

Returnable containers for the transportation of automotive components between original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and assembly/manufacturing plants are being widely introduced throughout the automotive industry world-wide. Chep USA's pooling program effectively addresses the key issues of the management and control of these containers, especially the reverse logistics problems currently being encountered within the industry.

In July of 1995, Sheppard was appointed to lead Chep's research study team investigating the potential and applicability of Chep's pooling system in the Automotive Manufacturing sector of the North American market, and the potential for pooling containers between North America and Chep's existing automotive container pool operation in Europe.

Prior to joining Chep USA, Sheppard was Managing Director of GKN subsidiary BKL Excusions from 1993 until March 1995, when the company was sold. From July 1991 to 1993, Sheppard was the Managing Director of GKN Window Systems. Both companies were based in Birmingham, UK. Sheppard was President & Chief Executive Officer of Vandervell America in Atlanta, GA from 1988 to 1991. The company controlled Vandervell's aftermarket engine component distribution in North and South America. Upon completion of his education, Sheppard joined Vandervell in its Maidenhead, UK, engine component manufacturing operation.. Vandervell was formerly owned by GKN.

Sheppard received a Master's Degree in Engineering from University of Cambridge, UK, and holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in engineering from St. John's College, University of Cambridge.

MIKE HELM

Mike Helm is Vice President of Human Resources for Chep USA. His responsibilities include managing recruitment, benefits and compensation administration, employee relations, training, management development and office services.

Prior to joining Chep USA, Helm was Director of Human Resources for Pepsi Cola of North America for its Florida business unit, where he was responsible for 2,400 employees in 27 locations. He also held several other key headquarters and field human resources positions, including Manager of Labor Relations for two years.

From 1977 to 1986, Helm worked for Mobil Oil where he was responsible for Employee Relations and Labor Relations in Denver and Southern California.

In 1977, Helm received a Bachelor of Science degree in business from University of Colorado. He is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management, and is active in the University of Colorado alumni association. He is also a member of the Employer Board of the Florida Conservation Corps.

Helm lives in Winter Springs, FL, near Orlando, with his wife Melanie, eight-year-old son Alan, six-year-old son Jarrett and five-year-old daughter Alicia.

REX M. LOWE

Rex M. Lowe is Vice President of Business Development for Chep USA.

Prior to his current position, Lowe was Director of Operations at Chep USA-South in Atlanta, where he was responsible for ensuring smooth flows of pallets and containers to more than 300 grocery manufacturing plants and from more than 1,000 grocery distribution centers.

Areas of responsibility included the issue and transport of quality pallets to Chep USA customers and all related depot and transportation operations. He helped develop, along with Shapiro & Associates from MIT, Chep's Order Planning and Dispatch (OPD) system. He assisted in the design and installation of the company's internal operating systems, as well as the in-house development of Chep's Electronic Load Tendering system which controls the dispatch and transportation of Chep pallets to customers. From 1990 to 1991, Lowe was Logistics Manager for Chep USA.

Lowe was employed by Frito-Lay, Inc. for four years, prior to joining Chep USA in 1990. He previously was a Region Logistics Manager.

Lowe received a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology and his Master's in Business Administration from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He is a member of the Council of Logistics Management (CLM), the Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC), the American Warehouse Association (AWA) and the American Trucking Association (ATA).

A native Texan, Lowe will move to Orlando with his wife, Paula and his seven-year-old son.
