She also endorsed the bakery cafes, which are operated with Host Marriott, as a sensible way to boost Cheesecake Factory as a brand name.

``I think that Cheesecake Factory is able to draw well because it has a fun atmosphere at a time when people are moving toward more entertainment at restaurants,'' said McNamara. The analyst may boost her target price of $29 a share, a figure originally set for next March.

David Overton, chairman and chief executive officer, said management was ``very pleased'' at the performance of all restaurants, seven of which are in Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, . The company opened its 19th restaurant in April in Denver and is evaluating sites for a potential additional restaurant or two in that market. It will open another outlet in Westbury, N.Y., in early September, and in Las Vegas, Cambridge, Mass., and Miami by the end of 1997 as part of its goal to increase square footage annually by 25 percent to 30 percent in 1997 and 1998.

Overton also said performance by the Ontario Mills site, which opened July 14, has met expectations. ``If successful, the bakery cafe concept could be expanded more rapidly than our full-size restaurants and could represent an additional source of sales and operating leverage Operating Leverage
